Shamrock is a copper skarn exploration project located near Yerington in western Nevada approximately 80 km southeast of Reno. The Shamrock property consists of 54 claims covering approximately 362 hectares (895 acres). Entrée has a 100% interest in 18 unpatented lode mining claims (the McConnell Canyon claims). An additional 13 patented and 23 unpatented lode mining claims are subject to an exploration and option agreement, with an option to purchase 100% interest in the claims.
The property is easily accessible from Reno by highway and it is a 20 minute drive from the town of Yerington. The nearest access to the rail network is located 17 km north of Yerington.
Mineralization at Shamrock is hosted within skarn (altered limestone) close to the contact with an underlying andesite unit. The faulting and folding of the limestone-andesite contact define a canoe shape target area of approximately 500 m x 200 m. 2009 RC drilling by PacMag intersected copper oxide mineralization close to surface in the southern, western and eastern edges of the area, and copper sulphide mineralisation in the central northern portion. Results include 33.6 m @ 1.72% Cu, 22.4 m @ 1.08% Cu and 19.3 m @ 1.03% Cu. The target area is situated near two small historic copper mines: the McConnell Mine (past production of 20,000 short tons @ ~3% Cu) and the Western Nevada Mine (past production of 4,000 short tons @ 3% Cu).
Exploring at Yerington
The Yerington district is presently one of the most active base metal exploration areas in the US. The combination of strategic location, excellent infrastructure, significant resources and long mining history makes Yerington an attractive investment location. Entrée has a significant land position in the Yerington district comprising: the Blackjack property; an option to earn an 80% interest on the Roulette property; and the land package acquired in 2010 from PacMag which includes the Ann Mason deposit, the Blue Hill target and other copper occurrences. Entrée is actively exploring these assets:
- Blackjack Property: 2,820 m drilling in 7 holes (2010); Induced polarization survey (2010)
- Roulette Property: 1,055 m drilling in 4 holes (2010)
- Ann Mason Deposit: Core drilling underway; 19,287 m in 17 holes completed (2010 - end of September 2011); induced polarization survey (2010).
- Blue Hill Target: 24 RC holes totalling 4,266 m and 7 diamond drill holes totalling 2,590 m have been completed at Blue Hill since 2010.
Exploration and Option Agreement
Entrée has an exploration and option agreement to explore for and develop the 13 patented and 23 unpatented lode mining claims with an option to purchase a 100% interest in the claims for $300,000 payable in three equal $100,000 tranches on September 12, 2010, 2011 (completed) and 2012.
